Traditional livestock insurance products typically cover the risks of mortality or disability following an accident. However, at Southern Oracle, we focus on addressing the real challenges faced by livestock farmers. Before an animal’s death, it often suffers from sickness or injury requiring medical treatment, which is not covered by traditional insurance. Even with the best animal husbandry practices, livestock may still fall ill or get injured—this is where we step in. Our aim is to prevent death and the spread of diseases by mobilizing treatment support.

Our Livestock Medical Insurance covers the prevention, control, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases affecting the health of specified domestic animals. Additionally, we cover disabilities caused by accidental injuries, as well as all risks of mortality when veterinary procedures cannot prevent death or when the animal is culled on humane grounds. In the event of death, the replacement value of the livestock is paid, subject to the sum insured.

We are collaborating with livestock associations, veterinary surgeons, and veterinary suppliers to ensure that farmers’ concerns are addressed and that we offer the best protection for Zimbabwe’s beef and dairy industry. Our goal is to restore Zimbabwe’s export status by creating a disease-free and sustainable national herd that rivals the best in the world.
